About 462 persons were interviewed.</p>
<p>Three categories of villages falling into the following ranges 0 – 2 km, 2 – 5 km, and 5 – 10 km were considered in each of the three prefectures straddled by the park.</p>
<p>Semi-structured interviews were conducted using questionnaires in focus groups and by selecting individuals informants randomly. Questions were related to the knowledge of elephant movement, the frequency of elephant migration from 2010 to 2013, their feeding resources. Human-elephant conflict events were also explored especially crop riding.</p>
